Anne Cumberworth was the wife of Thomas Wilson of Stubby, and the daughter and heir of Roger Cumberworth. They were yeoman, not members of the nobility. Many family trees have given them titles of nobility; however, there is no Justification for this.[1]
According to the Visitations of Lincolnshire, Anne and Thomas were the parents of five children, all sons. The eldest son, born 1524, was Thomas (later became Sir Thomas, a member of Parliament), followed by Humphrey, William, Godfrey and Charles.[2]
A great deal has been written about Thomas, their son who later became a member of parliament. Thomas "was son of Thomas Wilson of Strubby, Lincolnshire, by his wife, Anne, daughter and heiress of Roger Cumberworth of Cumberworth in the same county (cf. Harl. MS 6164, f. 42b).[3][4]
