Oliver was born on March 30, 1727, the son of Samuel and Mercy (Minott) Dakin. [1]
He would marry Elizabeth "Betty" Keyes, the daughter of Cyprian and Hepzibah (Howe) Keyes, in 1749 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. [2]

Oliver was a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War, and responded to the Lexington Alarm, April 19, 1775, marching on Cambridge as a Lieutenant in Captain Haines' company.
Oliver would pass away in 1805 at 78 years of age.
