DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joshua by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line.
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Frank Gill :
Mitochondrial DNA Test HVR1, haplogroup H
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joshua:

Simon Dakin III married Rebecca PERRY, not Purdy. She predeceased him and he must have married again as he mentions his wife, Deborah, in his will.
Simon Sr's wife, Elizabeth Brooks Dakin, died after 1739 when she was named executrix in her husband's will.
Huldah Worcester married Simon Dakin II in 1719. Hulda Cheney Worcester, her mother, could not have been married to Simon Sr in 1718 as he was married to Elizabeth Brooks at that time.
There is a LOT of confusion about the Simon's and Huldah's in this line. The parents of Rev. Simon Dakin III, who married Rebecca Purdy, are Simon (Jr.) Dakin and Huldah *Swift*. Simon Jr's parents are Simon (Sr.) Dakin and Elizabeth. Elizabeth died, having just had Simon Jr. He was born in *1694*. Then, Simon Sr. married Huldah Cheney Worcester. WIDOW of Timothy Worcester. Huldah Cheney Worcester and Simon Sr. married in Nov of 1718. I have records of all of this via books and town marriage records. Simon Sr's parents are Thomas and Susan. I can't find Susan's maiden name. She was married to a Richard Stratton 1st and had one child with him before marrying Thomas Dakin and having 2 sons with Thomas. Most of this is laid out in the Dakin portion of a book written on Digby.
