Karl Knutsen (Charles the Good, Count of Flanders) was born about 1084 in Odense, Denmark, the only son of St. Canute IV, King of Denmark and Adele of Flanders.
In 1118 he married Marguerite (Clermont) Danmark. They had no issue. Charles was Count of Flanders from 1119-1127.
On 2 Mar 1127, Ash Wednesday, he was murdered while praying in the Church of St Donatian in Bruges. He was beatified in 9 Feb 1882 by Pope Leo XIII.
