Biography

Ebenezer Darby was born on 23 November 1712 in Beverly, Essex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of John Derby (1681–1753) and Deborah Conant (1688–1763).^[1][2]

Ebenezer and Eunice Tarbox were married, probably before 1732. Their known children were:

1. Amos Darby (1732–1784)
2. Samuel Darby (1735–1737)
3. Samuel Darby (1737–1807)
4. Experiance Darby (1739–1807)
5. Eli Derby (1741–1741)
6. Reuben Darby (1742– )
7. Eunice Darby (1747–1793)
8. Tarbox Darby (~1749–<1782)
9. Thomas Darby (b. 22 Feb 1753)^[3]

In her father's will of 1774, Eunice is named as "the wife of Ebenezer Darby," implying that he was still living at that time.^[4]

Ebenezer probably died in York, York, Massachusetts (District of Maine). He was buried in Old York Cemetery, York Village.^[5]

Research Notes

Find a Grave gives a specific death date but, of course, has no citation. Nor is there a headstone image. I have therefore used the last sourced date for his "no earlier than" death. Rounsefell-5 18:20, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
