Alice (Darcy) Clopton was born in England.

Alice was daughter of Robert Darcy of Maldon, Essex^[1][2][3] and Alice Fillongley.^[2][3] Her birth date is uncertain.

Alice married John Clopton.^[1][4] They had at least the following children:

• William^[1][4][5][6]
• Edmund, a Knight of Rhodes^[1][5][6]
• Edward^[1][5][6]
• Anne, who married Thomas Rookwood or Rockwood^[1][5][6]
• Dorothy who married Thomas Curson^[1][5][6][7]

Research Notes

The 1552 Visitation of Essex^[3] and 1561 Suffolk Visitation^[1] give her mother's name as FitzLangley. Douglas Richardson gives it as Fillongley or Filongley^[2] as do the History of Parliament Online entries for her father^[8] and her maternal grandfather Henry Filongley.^[9] Fitzlangley appears to be a corruption of Fillongley, which is the name of a village in Warwickshire.
