Biography

Marie Neige Daspit was born in 1812 in Thibodaux, Lafourche, Louisiana, a daughter of Marcellus D'aspit-St Amand (1790–1863) and Claire Adele Courcier (1794–1820).

Marie (13) married Francois Onesime Champagne (19) (born in 1806 in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana; son of Pierre Champagne and Marie Melanie Chauvin) on October 16, 1826 in a civil ceremony at the Thibodaux Courthouse. The marriage was solemnized at the Catholic Church in Thibodaux on 4 June 1842, a few months before Onesime died.^[1]
