Biography

Jean des Marets (son of Reginald des Marets and Agnes de la Saulx) was born in 1450, and died in 1498. His parents and his family lived in Cambrai (aka "Cambray:" old French) at the time part of the Holy Roman Empire, now in the "Grand Nord," region of France. He was of the local "Noblesse de Robe" aristocracy and a magistrate (judge) of the city of Cambrai.

Jean des Marets married 4 times and had 13 children:

    Jean (Marets) des Marets was the Protestant ancestor of a Huguenot emigrant to .


Jean des Marets lived in the 15th Century and therefore was a Roman Catholic Christian. Several of his descendants in the 16th Century converted to the "Reformed Christian Religion" and left France due to anti-Protestant/anti-Huguenot persecution.

Dad was born in 1415. Could you change the privacy level please? (Adding a birth year guess of 1436 would do it automatically.) Also, do you know if he died young? The profile for his brother of the same name shows a birth year of 1450 (they have the same mother too).
