Biography

Andrew Seawright, Sr (1712 - 1777) and Mary Eleanor Dickson, came to Abbeville District in 1762 among a shipload of Presbyterians brought to Boonesborough Township on Long Canes in Abbeville County by the Rev John Baxter.

Andrew Seawright Sr. and his family settled near the old Greenville Church where he and his wife are now buried. He was too old to fight as a solider in the Revolution, but was killed by the Tories and had his home burned.

Andrew's father, William Seawright (abt 1675-80 -- 1749-50) and his mother, Ester Thompson (abt 1680-1) were born in Ireland and had come to America in 1736 with an earlier shipload of persons brought by the Rev. Baxter. They settled on the Watersee River in old Orangeburg County (now Calhoun), and are buried in a family cemetary on Beaver Creek.
