Biography

Cpl John Dodson served in the KY Militia in the War of 1812
Service started: Aug 23, 1812

John Randall Dodson, son of Thomas Dodson and Jemima Randalls, was born in 1792 in Patrick County, Virginia.

By 1812 he had moved to Adair County, Kentucky, where John enlisted and served seven months in the militia during the War of 1812.

He married Sarah Burnett on August 25, 1816 in Wayne County, Kentucky; they had eleven sons and one daughter.

They moved from Kentucky to Missouri in 1844 and settled in the Troy Mills neighborhood, south of Kirksville, Missouri.

In 1850 they were counted in District 1, Adair, Missouri [1]

John, Sarah, and their five younger boys, Obediah, John, Marcus, Job, and Reuben, all moved to Putnam and Sullivan counties.

In 1860 they lived in Richland Township, Putnam, Missouri.

John Randall Dodson died in 1868 while living in Putnam County, Missouri, and was buried there; his body was later moved to the McFeron-Dodson Cemetery, south of Kirksville, Missouri. [3]
