Gilbert married twice. His first wife was Margaret Sneyde,[2] whose first husband, John Somerford,[2] died on 11 August 1577.[1] They had five children:
Margaret died on 2 October 1592. On 14 May 1594 Gilbert remarried, his second wife being Anne, widow of someone with the last name Blundell: her last name at birth is not known.[1][2]
From 1577 to 1603 Gilbert was involved in a long lawsuit with Sir Edward Fitton over property in Cheshire that had belonged to his wife's first husband.[1]
Gilbert was buried at Lymm, Cheshire on 2 December 1607.[1] His will was dated December 3 (sic) 1607.[1] An Inquisition post mortem found that he had been possessed of properties in the Lymm area.[3] His widow was alive in 1607.[2]

Magna Carta Project
This profile was reviewed for the Magna Carta Project by Michael Cayley, finishing 7 July 2020.
Gilbert Domville does not appear in a Magna Carta trail in Douglas Richardson's 2011 Magna Carta Ancestry but Richardson has established subsequently that he is descended from Thomas Stanley and hence from Magna Carta Surety BaronSaher de Quincy, and is on a trail to Gateway AncestorMargaret Domville. See Richardson's post in this thread in soc.genealogy.medieval. He will also be descended from other Surety Barons. This trail was developed in June/July 2020 by Michael Cayley and badged 16 Jul 2020 by Thiessen-117. Details of this trail are in the Magna Carta Trails section of Margaret Domville's profile.
See Base Camp for more information about identified Magna Carta trails and their status. See the project's glossary for project-specific terms, such as a "badged trail".
