Biography

Amzi Doolittle Jr was born 24 Feb 1768 in Warwick, Franklin, Massachusetts, son of Amzi Doolittle Sr and Jerusha Smith.[1]

In 1790, he lived in Townsend, Windham, Vermont.[2]

He served as town Constable in at least 1804-5 and appears to have been re-elected in 1807.[3] He appears frequently throughout Townshend town records, frequently called upon by the Selectmen to summon families for their removal from town.

He was a selectman in Nov 1814 when he, along with Moses ____, warned out of town Nancy Putney (?) and her two daughters.[4].

By 1850, he was living in Winchester, Cheshire, New Hampshire.[5]

And was still there in 1860.[6]

Amzi Doolittle [Jr] died in 1863, age 94. He is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, Cheshire, New Hampshire.[7]

Amzi and Esther had no children of their own; they adopted Esther's sister's child, Hiram Shepard, who changed his last name to Doolittle.
