Marriage

William DOUGLAS married Mary LUCAS, May 31, 1753 [1][7] [bapt. 5 May 1734, daughter of Ivory & Mary Lucas; d. 31 Jan 1810].

All of his children were born in New London. [1]


Civic Service

He served as the first constable and collector in New London, serving from 1764 to 1772. [1]

He is also listed as an American Patriot with the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ancestor #A033851 [6] According to his record, he served as a member of the committee to purchase supplies for the Army (their source being the Mullen CT town meeting records Vol2, P43).

William Douglas died 1 OCT 1805 @ New London, New London, Connecticut, USA. [1] He is buried next to his wife, Mary. His gravestone reads: [4]
