Archibald Douglas was born circa 1416 to James Douglas and Beatrice Sinclair. He was at some point created Earl of Moray and went with his brothers and other members of his family to fight in the Battle of Arkinholm against the current King's supporters, James II of Scotland. He was killed at this battle on May 1, 1455, and his head was presented to the King at Abercorn Castle.
