Note

Though proven almost beyond reasonable doubt by the late Marshall Kirk of the New England Historic Genealogical Society (and those who have built upon his work), the relationship between the Dudley Family of America and the Sutton-Dudleys of Dudley Castle is not yet proven. Please join me and other Dudley descendants in persuading responsible parties on both sides of the Atlantic to allow dispositive DNA testing, as the burial places of the individuals most critical to establishing the link are known: Eliot Burial Ground, Roxbury, Massachusetts for Governors Thomas and Joseph Dudley and St. Margaret's, Westminster, for John the (so-called) Third Baron Dudley, buried on 18 September 1553.[5]

Could there be 2 Henry Dudley in this family? I'm finding stories of Henry Dudley's with 2 different stories, one children and 1 no children.

I am not approved for 1500's but could add information as, Sir Henry Sutton of Dudley is my 11th GGF. He had 8 children. His son, Roger Sutton of Dudley, Mayor Earl of Leicester is my 10th GGF. Married to Susannah Thorne, Their son Thomas Dudley my 9th GGF was Governor of Mass. All my research is from Ancestor and books. Dudley history books and others.

If Henry did not have children then the crescent cadet symbol on the coat of arms would be passed to his next in age younger brother with children...so Thomas (I have seen an unsourced site saying Thomas died young, but often unsourced sites are wrong). Thus, Thomas could be the father of Roger and grandfather of Gov Dudley

His father was according to this only 3 years old when this Henry was born.

His father was according to the duplicate profile and according to Wikipedia actually born in 1517 which suggests something is very wrong here. I see no sources attached to the linked tree on My Heritage

Problem! - two sons both named Roger Dudley

Dudley-2031 and Dudley-251 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Richarson states that Henry Dudley died between 1568 and 1570, although the place was a guess. There's nothing in the Dudley-251 bio supporting its current death date and the bio even has him being buried prior to his listed death. I would go with the death date on Dudley-2031
