Louis Marie Duhe was born 5/4/1739 in l'Ange Gardien, Quebec and migrated from Canada to the German Coast of Louisiana. He married Catherine Dervain (born 8/28/1752 in Destrehan, Louisiana, daughter of Rene Dervain and Anne Marie Frederic) in 1770 in German Coast, Louisiana, St. John the Baptist Parish.

He died 17 Dec. 1823 at age 84 and was interred in St. John the Baptist Catholic cemetery in Edgard, St. John Parish, LA. It is interesting to note that Catherine, of German ancestry, did not speak French, and Louis did not speak German. [5]
