Not to be confused with her legitimate half-sister Isabel, Countess of Norfolk.

Biography

Isabel was an illegitimate daughter of William the Lion, King of Scots and one of his mistresses who was a daughter of Robert Avenal.[1][2]

She married (first) in 1183 Robert de Brus, [3] who died in 1190.[1] There were no children from this marriage.[1]

Isabel married (second) in 1191 Robert de Ros[4] There were two children from this marriage:

The date of Isabel's death is unknown.

Marriage of the King's natural daughter, Isabel.

ANNO MCLXXXIII. Willelmus rex Scottorum filiam suam Isabel quam genuit ex filia Roberti Avenel, Roberto de Brus honorifice dedit.

Brut was the son of Robert de Brus le Meschin by his wife Euphemia. He died (vit. patris) without issue. In 1191 his widow married Robert de Ros.
