1850 According to the 1850 Census, Benjamin, who was 56 and a mariner, and his family lived in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. His family consisted of Dinah 53 his wife, Elizabeth D. Blake 29, Dinah Dyer 20 or 24, Azubah 17, Catherine 14, and Isabella 8.

1860 The 1860 Census, shows the Dyer family continues to live at Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Benjamin is now 66 and a Seaman, earning $1700 a month, or $6700 a year, Dinah is 63, Azubah is 27, and Catherine is 24.

1870 The 1870 Census, reflects the Dyer family has remained in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Benjamin is 76 and a Retired Ship Master earning $2845 a month or $3845 a year. Dinah is 72 and continues to keep house, Arthur W. Dyer their grandson is 8, and Florence A. Dyer their granddaughter 10 is attending school.

1871 Benjamin's occupation at the time of his death in 1871 was a Mariner.
