Note: Following data from Brad Parks in correspondence to JWP:
"Anna Ruth [Dyer] Nelson was born on the Dyer family farm at Bethel and at the age of two weeks moved to St. Paul. The family lived on the West Side for thirteen years and then in the Uni-Dale district. She attended elementary schools and Washington Jr. Sr. High School, where she walked two miles each way.
Since there were no radios or television in those days the children were more active. They went on long hikes, had school gardens, and had many games and projects. Most important was the library where good books were always available and eagerly read. Ninth Presbyterian Church was the center of Anna Nelson's life. She belonged to all the youth groups, the choir, and Sunday School. In summer there was picnics, and weiner roasts and in winter sleigh rides followed by hot chocolate or oyster stew at the church.
After leaving school she worked for a time and then was married. In 1943 she started to do day work to help meet expenses and still be able to care for the children. She is still working one day a week for an elderly couple that she has been with for over twenty-five years. The man is 91 and his wife is 89. She is Charles Lindberg's half sister. Since 1971, she has lived with the Sletten's where she helps with the child care and the housework. The children are all living in this area. [Minneapolis ?]"
