Sune Ebbesen was the son of Asser Rigs brother Ebbe Skjalmsen and belonged with his cousins Absalon and Esbern Snare to the circle around Valdemar the Great. He was as his cousins eager participants in the battles against the Venders. Together with his wife he replaced is fathers wooden church in Bjernede with a stone church. Sone was one of the largest estate holders of his time. He died in 1186 in Sorø, and is buried in Sroø cloister-church.[1]
He had 7 sons with Ceclile, the famous Sunesons, of which five became bishops.
