- Robert Joshua Edwards was born about 1590 in Wales, son of Richard Edwards Jr. (1566 - 1635) and Ellenor (Thomas) Edwards (1571 - 1628).
- His brother was William Edwards (1586 - 1622).
- Robert married Margaret Babbs in 1619 in Cardiff, Glamorgan, , Wales. Their children were:
- Robert Edwards (1608 - <1681)
- William Edwards (1610 - ~1660)
- William Edwards (1620 - 1718).
- Robert's other children were:
- William Edwards (1610 - >1635)
- Dr. Robert Edwards (~1652 - ~1681).
- Robert died about 1664 in Wales aged ~74.[1]

His birth is estimated about 1587-1595.
The only support for the 1587 date is an online site [2] which cites the linked book. No other corroborating entries have been located thus far.
The 1595 date is also an unsupported date arising from the "Edwards Heirs" documents. [3] [4] [5]
However that birthdate is actually for a daughter's baptism in the Hopton Castle Register ...

Sources are suspect - Denbigh, Wales does have some records supporting birth dates for several individuals - but no parental information found to connect parents to children. Caution: The EDWARDS of Plas Newydd, Chirk Denbighshire, Wales are likely related to John Edwards and Ann Puttenham, (daughter of Robert Puttenham of Hants. m1: Dorothy (daughter of Sir Richard Sherborne ) who built the family seat at Plas Newydd, and publicly renounced the Pope at the execution in Wrexham of the first Welsh Catholic martyr in 1584. History of Parliment; There does not appear to be a proven connection to Richard EDWARDS (m: Elenor THOMAS) of Glamorganshire, Wales (sons: William and Joshua of Hopton Castle).
