Will of William Edwarde of Leverington, Will made 27th March 1555 William Edwards, (son of Edmond-Alice), was not mentioned in his father’s Will of 1558. William left his own Will in 1555, made on 27, March and proved on 28, May 1555. He died at a relatively young age as he mentions his son, William, being under the age of eighteen. The following is William’s bequests :Will made 27th March 1555 "named Alyce my wife sole executrix; to Henry Maye my wife’s brother"
Body to be buried in the church porch at Leverington, and any unpaid tithes to be paid, as well as payments to the poor. To Alyce my wife the house I dwell in and other property. After her decease to William my son and his heirs, in fee simple. Further property under same provision, to Alyce until William my son comes to the age of 18, on the condition she keeps my son William honestly until he come to lawful age; otherwise to Henry Maye my wife’s brother. If my wife dies before William my son is 18, the property to remain to Henry Maye. If he dies then to my wife’s executors. To William my son a cubbord and table [and other such bequests]. To Bartholomew my son 7 acres and house at Catfolde [and other property nearby] To Bartholomew my son 40s in money. To Joane my daughter the wife of Thomas Warner copyhold land in Wisbeche and the land left to said Joane by Robert Dwaye/Dirage[?] of Wysbeche in his will; and 40s To Robert Warner a couple plows [or cash sum]. To Alyce my daughter 40s; half at the day of her marriage other half that day twelve months later; and household bequests To Kateryne my daughter 40s in money, [half and half as above]; household bequests. If these daughters die, bequests to wife Alyce, and then in parts equally to Robert and Symond Twone/Trone sons of Symond Trone[?] the elder and Henry Maye my wife’s brother. Provision in case wife is with child. To Catrine[?] my sister, the wife of Symond Trone 20s To Henry Maye my wife’s uncle 10s To Henry Maye my wife’s brother 3s [?] To Robert Durrand the elder a 2 year old bullock and a noble [money]. To my godmother Ferndyke [?] a cowe and a noble. To [illegible] Ferndyke a 2 year old bullock. To Robert Edward [sic] the son of Robert Edward the elder 2s 3d To Thomas Edward the elder, the son of the said Robert 2s To Annies Edward [sic] the daughter of John 2s To Joane Edwarde the daughter of William Edward [sic] 3s 4d To John Reson a calf To Raphe Reson 12d Other bequests to those with surnames of Mayroke, Yardley, Meriman.
