Also styled as Robert Isham Edwards and Robert of Cardiff

Parents Unknown

Presumed parents Robert (1608) and Rebecca[1] (No Information located other than (unsourced Ancestry Trees and IGI)

Birth

Estimated Birth 1646-1652 Virginia vs Wales (vs variously reported 1608-1630 - co-mingled trees - b 1608 in Wales; most likely represents the parent )[1]

Marriage

Marriage 1672 Isle of Wight Virginia Mary Hunt (vs 1628-1633 Wales or England) - Isle of Wight Marriages[2] [3][4]

As Mary married 3X and had additional children after the death of Robert in 1681 (birth estimates 1672-1697) , it is very likely Robert was born later than 1608 either in Virginia or Wales.

(1608-1681 = age 73 / m. 1672 (age 64)
More likely age at death 35-45 = (b. 1636-1646);

Only two Roberts are recorded with arrival dates in 1635. and one Robert in 1643, none of which appear to be a firm connection to Dr. Robert. It is likely he may have been a "ship's doctor" and thus considered as a "headright" (paying his own passage).

People did not have middle names in the 1600's. I see no mention of Isham in the biography. It should be removed from the data. Objections?
posted by Anne B
No objection on my part. I never found any "middle names" either and don't know how this originated - probably tree-to-tree copy and/or merge.

It is sort of like the Robert Joshua thing -- there was not one but lots of people want it to be. Profile looks in need of some TLC cleanup at this time. Do you want to handle? or, I can put on F/U list for later this month? Regards, Sandy

posted by Sandy Edwards
Sandy, yes please handle this.

Thank you so much for your help!

posted by Loretta (Leger) Corbin
Yes Sandy go ahead, I just noticed it in passing. And remove Isham while your there.

Edwards-868 and Edwards-859 appear to represent the same person because: These are probably the same person but they both need work. Hopefully the US Southern Colonist project can help straighten these out. Ask for their help.

A child's birth date (Edwards-14454 born 1 Jun 1622) should not be before a parent is six years old (Edwards-859 born 1638) .

A mother's death date (Babbs-38 died 24 May 1631) should not be before one of her children's birth dates (Edwards-859 born 1638). * removing Edwards-14454 and Babbs-38

Edwards-859 and Edwards-21114 appear to represent the same person because: Please merge these two and note the different death dates for review. Thank you.

There are more merges to take place, when those are completed, then the biography can be cleaned up.
