  7. Margaret b. 1829 in Lee, Mar 24 Oct 1850 to Peter Beeler. This is my husband's ancestor. They moved to Grainger Co., TN. He enlisted in the Union Army in the Civil War. He got leave from his commander and went home to help his starving family. He got food from the relatives and planted a crop before he went back. He had been listed as AWOL, but that was finally fixed. On the way back to his unit, he was shot by the Rebs. (who ironically were his cousins) and taken to a local farm where he died three days later. Margaret tried to get his pension for years. Finally Congress passed a law called "Margaret's Law", which gave her his pension, but she had remarried out of desperation a few months before they passed the law, so once again, she was left out. I can't find out when she died for sure and where she's buried.
