Biography

Zora (Ensor) McDonald was a centenarian, living to age 100.

Zora Lee Ensor was born on August 12, 1899 in Putnam, Tennessee, United States, daughter of William Wirt Ensor (1869–1901) and Monsie Lee Amonette (1870–1908).

In 1900, Zora was living in Putnam, Tennessee. [1]

Zora (18) married Wayne Hogan McDonald (20) (born on August 15, 1897 in Smith, Tennessee) on May 24, 1918 in Smith, Tennessee.[2] Their children were:

One of the few Smith County residents to have lived in three different centuries, Mrs. Zora McDonald, died Monday morning, January 3, 2000, at the age of 100 years, four months, and twenty-two days, at the Smith County Health Care Center in Carthage. Services were conducted Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Bro. Ron Ralph officiated and burial followed in Smith County Memorial Gardens. A native of Buffalo Valley in Putnam County, Mrs. McDonald was the daughter of the late William Wirt and Moncie Lee Amonette Ensor. She and her husband of sixty nine years, Mr. Wayne H. McDonald, resided on their family farm in the Maggart community where they reared their four children until retiring and moving to Carthage. She and Mr. McDonald were married May 26, 1918 and he died August 16, 1986, one day after his 89th birthday. They were also preceded in death on December 27, 1982 by a son, Douglas McDonald of Portland and on October 23, 1980 by a grandson, Tommy McDonald. Mrs. McDonald, a homemaker, was a member of the former Ellis Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Jasper (Ruby) Maggart of Donelson, Betty Robinson of Hartsville, Cordell McDonald and wife, Lois, of South Carthage; daughter-in-law, Hulda Scruggs McDonald of Portland; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild

Zora died on January 1, 2000 in Tennessee, aged 100. She is commemorated at Smith County Memorial Gardens, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee.[3]
