Note: Mr. James "Jim" L. Farthing, 65, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at his home. Mr. Farthing's funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Boger UCC. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church and will be at the home the remainder of time. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Officiating minister will be Dr. Rev. J. Donald McManus. Jim was born in Wake County April 15, 1942, to the Late Charles Claude and Mary Hopkins Farthing. Jim was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served four years. He was a service rep for Ricoh Company. Jim was a member of Boger UCC, where he sang in the choir. He graduated from CPCC with an electronic engineering degree and served on the advisory council at CPCC. Jim was a family man, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jim is survived by his wife, Mrs. Diane Corzine Farthing of the home; a son, Mr. David M. Farthing and wife, Angela, of Conover; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Kathryn Farthing; one brother, Mr. Charles C. Farthing III of Nashville, Tenn.; aunt, Mrs. Thelma Hood and husband, Bill, of Lenoir. Memorials may be made to Boger UCC, 7313 Gold Hill Road, Concord, NC 28025 Online condolences may be sent to www.wilkinsonfuneralhome.com Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of services for Mr. Farthing
