John Ferrers, son of Sir John Ferrers MP and Maud Stanley, was aged 24 at the Inquisition Post Mortem of his grandfather Sir Thomas Ferrers in 1498.[1]
He was Member of Parliament for the Borough of Stafford in 1495. He was knighted at Blackheath on 17 Jun 1497. He was Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1499-1500.[2]
On 5 October 1508 he conveyed the manors of Stivichall and Lea Marston and half of the manor of Harborough, all in Warwickshire, to trustees Walter Gryffyth, knt., William Turvyll, esq., John Curson of Croxall, esq., William Chetwyn, esq., William Boughton, esq., Christopher Seyntgerman, gent., Nicholas Harpur, gent., and Henry Boughton, gent., for the use of himself and his wife Dorothy; and half a pasture in Lea Marston for the use of his uncle Roger Ferrrers.[3]
His will dated 6 October 1508 was proved on 13 May 1513.[2]
He appears to have been living on 14 March 1512/3 when he was sued for a debt of £200 jointly with Francis Braddock of Adbaston, Staffordshire, by Hugh Acton, citizen and merchant-tailor of London.[4]
