Biography

Stephen Field was born about 1671, son of Zachariah Field (abt.1648-abt.1715) and Sarah (Roberts) Field (abt.1657-). There is no reliable source for his date of birth.

Marriage

Stephen Field declared his intention to marry Mary King on 26 Jan 1716-17 in Kittery [1]. They were married on 10 Jun 1717 by Rev. John Newmarch[2].

From Old Kittery and Her Families[3] on page 401: Stephen Field married 10 June 1717 Mary dau of Richard King.

The following text is from page 570 of Old Kittery and her families [4]: Richard King married Mary, dau. of George Lydston. York Deeds IV. 138. He was a shipwright, as was also his father. Was selectman in 1711 and 1712. He died about 1723. His widow married, 23 Dec. 1734, Samuel Johnson. Children:

According to "History of Durham" [5]: Stephen Field m. 10 Jun 1717. In 1721 sixty acres were laid out to Stephen Field which were granted to his father Zachariah Field in 1693/4. [Dover Town Records. Cf. Old Kittery and Her Families, p. 401.]

Occupation

Stephen Field is mentioned in a legal record that confirms his occupation as a sailor. "15 Dec 1738 Daniel Jacobs John Field, Solomon Pinkham, entered into an indenture with Stephen Field of Kittery, a sailor, regarding the above sixty acres. The indenture was recorded 23 March 1756. NH Province Deed 112:571-2." [7]
