Research Notes

According to the Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage Book [9] : Daniel Field (1739-78) served as a private under Captains John Elden and Philip Thomas, and as a Sergeant in Capt. Philip Thomas' company, Col. Thomas Marshall's 10th MA regiment, (see Marshall-23202 Massachusetts troops. He was born and died in Falmouth, Maine. This record also confirms that he married Lucy Ingersoll (b. 1742) in 1762. [10]

War Graves Register, Clovis H Brakebill of Sons of the American Revolution, 1993 records his death in error as 1778 as does War Graves Register by Progeny Publishing Co, Buffalo N.Y. 1998. These records are confusing him with his cousin Daniel Field, have his birth date as 1739 and death as 1778, have him married firstly to Lucy Ingersoll and secondly married to Sarah Haynes! These two references from the Sons of the American Revolution website at Sep2008.

However, according to a DAR member's research Meehan-411, Daniel Field born 1739 is not to be confused with his cousin Daniel Field born 1708/9 who was of Pepperellborough. The Rev War service and DAR info is for Daniel Field 1709. DAR records show that Daniel Field died in 1778 but that is Daniel Field 1708/9 (whom there exists documents to prove his service). This Daniel Field died abt 1799 according to documents involving family members (Field and Ingersoll) in a Deed in Court Common Pleas 18 Aug 1799 Vol.1 page 176.

Hello, Ken, just noticed you have removed the 1776 sticker. Comment says you clarified this with a cousin. Who would that have been? The DAR has approved Daniel as my member patriot.

Hi Beryl. I didn't remove the 1776 sticker - that appears to have been editbot. Sorry that my comment was unclear. I meant that I was trying to remove any confusion between the two cousins, i.e. Cousin Daniel Field. Please fix anything needed!
