Biography

Simeon Fish, the fourth child of Bridget (Gallup) Fish (1768-1842) and Sands Fish (1762-1838), was born 17 Jan. 1797 in New London, Connecticut [1].

He married Eliza Roe Randall on 15 Oct. 1823 at Groton, Connecticut. The service was performed by Roswell Burrows.

Simeon Fish was a merchant, He and Elizabeth were enumerated on the censuses of 20 Sep. 1850 and 1860 at Groton, Connecticut [2],[3]

Per The Fish Family in England and America (1948) p. 301, 307, no. 1987:[4] 1987 SIMEON8 FISH (Sands7, Nathan6, Nathan5, Samuel4, John3, Alice2, John1), ship owner and merchant, son of (1885) Sands and Bridget (Gallup) Fish, was b. at Groton, Conn., Jan. 17, 1797. He m. Eliza R. Randall, dau. of Jedediah and Mary Randall. She was b. Mar. 3, 1803; d. at Waterford, Conn., June 23, 1872. He was a farm boy; became a shoemaker, merchant, ship owner and farmer. He accumulated a large property, spoke plainly and abhorred dishonesty. He d. Apr. 25, 1863.

Children: +2060 William Randall9, b. July 13, 1824; m. Lydia W. Williams. +2061 Nathan Sands, b. Apr. 11, 1828; d. Oct. 8, 1915, at 87; m. Jennette E. Morgan. 2062 Jed Randall, b. Nov. 20, 1832; m. Myra Oltz; m. (2) Josephine Oltz.

Simeon Fish died 25 Apr 1863 in Stonington [5], and was buried in Fish Cemetery 18, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. His grave memorial page has a photo his gravestone and links to those of family members [6].
