Lavinia Fish, born 1 Oct 1794 at Groton, Connecticut, was the third child of Bridget Gallup & Sands Fish.
Note: Her given name has been variously spelled Levina, Lovina, Lavina, even Louisa. It appears to be written Lavinia in her birth record [1].
She married 18 Feb 1817 Isaac Denison Jr (1790-1855). They had 9 children, as profiled.
This family was enumerated at Stonington, Connecticut [2],[3].
Levina (Fish) Denison died 22 Jul 1890, and was buried at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, Connecticut [4].
Her online memorial site represents that Levina also married Peleg Denison (1786-abt.1843). If this spousal relationship is to be believed, they must have married, then divorced, before Peleg married (in 1809) Harriet Eldridge, who remained living until 1825. Meanwhile, Levina had married Isaac Denison in 1817, and had 9 children with him, their last one born in 1837. The concept of a second marriage of Peleg Denison to Levina is not plausible because he died in 1843, at which time Isaac was still living, and he and Levina were still raising young children. In the absence of primary source evidence of a divorce from Peleg before 1809, thus to enable Levina Fish to marry Isaac Denison, we conclude that the F-A-G representation of her connection with Peleg Denison is incorrect.
