Catherine L. Fisher was born in Rowan County, North Carolina on November 1, 1833 to parents John Fisher and Sally Roseman .^[1]

On November 10, 1852 a license for marriage between Catherine and William Alpheus Houck was filed in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. ^[2] The couple were officially married the next day; November 11, 1852. ^[3]Together they had as many as nine children:
