Research Notes

The Peerage refers to him as "4th Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw" (son of Nicholas, 2nd Baron) and mentions 2 wives: Honora O'Brien and Elinor FitzGerald.

A possible 3rd wife (m.1374) was Joan Butler, daughter of James, 2nd Earl of Ormond. According to the Ormond Deeds (Vol.2, No.189),^[1] in May 1374 a marriage contract was drawn up between the Earl of Ormond (father of "Johanna") and John FitzNicholas FitzMaurice, Lord of Kerry.^[2][3]
