Biography

Name

Various genealogies have shown the wife of Hugh Wlonkeslowe to be Alice FitzWarin or Alice Fitzalan. [1] No documentation has been found to support either last name, so Alice's last name at birth at this time is Unknown.

Birth and Parentage

Some genealogies show Alice to be the daughter of Fulk FitzWarin and Margaret de la Pole, who were married before 25 Feb 1276/7. [2]

However, Richardson reports that Fulk and Margaret had three sons, Fulk, Knt (2nd Lord FitzWarin), William, K.G; and John, and two daughters, Hawise and Mabel [2]. Richardson does not note a daughter named Alice. Cawley does not take his narrative of Margaret and Fulk Fitzwaren to the next generation. Alice was previously shown in WikiTree as their child, but she has been disconnected from this relationship, and her LNAB changed to Unknown.

Marriage

Hugh Longslow appears to be one and the same as Hugh Wlonkeslowe who appears in a few historical records.

Issue

They were the parents of at least one son, Hugh, b. about 1300.

Fitzalan-510 and Unknown-348186 appear to represent the same person because: Hello to all! I saw where the LNAB Fitzwarin is a red herring. I would like to complete this merge.

Thank you, Lynden Rodriguez

Lynden, online genealogy sources that fail to cite any sources themselves, are not suitable for any profile on WikiTree and in particular for any pre-1500 profile. You have completed the pre-1700 test and were granted the pre-1500 badge with the understanding that you valued and used appropriate sources. Unless you have reliable sources that give Alice's LNAB as FitzWarin or FitzAlan, could you please merge her profile into Unknown-348186 as has been suggested.

Fitzalan-510 and Unknown-348186 are not ready to be merged because: I am making this an unmarked match, not because I disagree, but that those involved can weigh in on some new sources I have discovered. I realize these new sources may be what one might consider "fluff," as they are pedigree sources, but this is even greater indication that firmer sources may be had. I eagerly await your response.
Fitzalan-510 and Unknown-348186 appear to represent the same person because: Hi, Lynden -- we know that Hugh's wife was Alice, but we don't know her last name. The only source for Alice Fitzalan is an ancestry link that is dead -- it would be nice to have a family for Alice to be in, but I don't think we have one at this point. So I'm proposing that your Alice be marged into Alice Unknown.

Richardson does not have an Alice as daughter of Fulk (Royal Ancestry II:660). Is there a source for Alice?
