Asa Flanders married Betsy IRELAND May 18, 1800, at Salem. [1] The couple first lived in Salem[2], then Charlestown, Massachusetts, and had four daughters:[3][4][5][6][7]
The 1852 City Directory describes him as a grocer at 331 Main St., with house at 23 Sullivan St., Charlestown [9]
In his last will and testament, dated 7 Feb 1860, Asa Flanders bequeaths $5 to his daughters Hanah L HADLEY (wife of Elijah) and Elizabeth J GARDNER (wife of James M); the rest of his estate is to be given to daughters Mary Ann and Louisa FLANDERS; after their death, the residue of his estate to be given to his other daughters or their children. Asa Flanders, widowed, trader, age 88y 1m 17d, residing 23 Sullivan St. Charlestown, born at Enfield NH, son of Samuel and Hannah Flanders (of Norfield NH), died of old age on 13 Jan 1862 Charlestown, and was buried in Old Yard [11]
