Biography

Born on 8 August 1688, Paul Foley was the third but second surviving son of Paul Foley and his wife, Mary Lane. His entry at Inner Temple in 1693 is perhaps not to be taken seriously. He was, however, at Lincoln's Inn in 1706. Paul was first returned to Parliament in 1713 as member for Aldborough and in 1715 as member for Weobly.

His first wife was Susannah Massingberd, daughter of Sir William Massingberd, 2nd Baronet, of Bratoft Hall, Gunby, Lincolnshire. No children were born in the marriage. His second wife whom he married by license dated 13 December 1722 was Susannah Hoare daughter of banker Henry Hoare of Fleet Street. Again there were no children.

He died a wealthy man on 28 November 1739.
