Ignace Fortin served with French-Canadians Rendering Aid during the American Revolution.

Biography

He was the son of Louis-Marie Fortin and Marguerite Leblond.

Sunday, July 7, 1776
The militia assembled at 2:00 p.m.
The reading of the charges.
A large number of parishioners went to join the habitants of Pointe Lévy in the tumultuous assembly that they held.
After this assembly, the habitants of this parish stood guard to resist the government’s punishment that they feared they would receive. They occupied the presbytery and turned it into their guardhouse.
Noel Racine, the father, voted as one of the most infamous rebels from St. Michel.
The same for Joseph Rouillard, Jean Racine, the son, the son, Louis Racine, the son, Pierre Larochelle, Jean Pilote, Ignace Fortin, the son, who were all present at the March 25 episode at Michel Blay’s house. Joseph Fortin, the son of the former Capt. Fortin, seems to have been there by chance after the incident.
The parish in general, resisted the King’s orders and showed support for the rebels.
They lit three fires in this parish to signal that ships were approaching. [3]
