Claude Fortin was born about 1717 in Canada, Nouvelle-France. His baptism record has not been found. He was the second child of eight known children for Louis Fortin and Anne Bossé.
Claude married Marie Jeanne Methot about 1744 in Canada, Nouvelle-France. Their marriage record has not been found. She was the daughter of Charles Methot and Marie-Genevieve Hedouin. Claude and Marie Jeanne had at least 13 known children between about 1744 and 1766. The first three children's baptism have not been found. The next ten children were all born at Cap St-Ignace.
Claude Fortin died May 5, 1799 at St-Antoine-sur-Richelieu and he was buried there the next day. Marie Jeanne Methot had died about ten years earlier on Sept. 23, 1789 at Cap St-Ignace and she was buried there the next day.
