On March 15, 1737 or 8, he married Sarah Dillingham, daughter of John Dillingham of Harwich[2][5]. Their children included:
Mary, born March 23, 1737-8, in Harwich[6], who married James Crosby late in life and had no children[2][4]
Thankful, born Sept. 30, 1741[7], who married first Watson Freeman, son of Watson on March 18, 1762, and 2nd Mr. Batey, and 3d Mr. Blake[2][4]
Temperance, born July 17, 1744[8]; probably died young[2][4]
Edward, born Oct. 19, 1746[9]; baptized in 1757[2][4]
Lydia, born April 28, 1752; baptized in 1757; she married Silvanus Nye on October 5, 1770[2][4]
Rebecca, born July 6, 1754[10]; baptized in 1757 ; she married Barnabas Atwood, about 1775[2][4]
Benjamin, born Aug. 21, 1757[11]; baptized in 1757[2][4]
Sarah died circa 1779[2]. Benjamin married second her sister, Susannah (Dillingham) Bangs, who was the widow of Elkanah Bangs who was on board a privateer when he was captured in the Revolutionary war, and died in 1777[2][4]
Benjamin Freeman was made a constable in Harwich in 1748, and a selectman in 1770 for several yrs. He was a delegate to the convention at Salem, Feb. 1, 1775 ; and was usually prominent in public affairs.[2]
He died Dec. 10, 1786, at age 69. and was buried in the Old Burying Grouond in Brewster, Barnstable, Massachusetts[5][4]. His will, which was dated March 15, 1786, and probated on Feb. 13, 1787, mentions his wife Susanna, his eldest, daughter Mary, grandson Watson, daughters Thankful Batey and Rebecca Atwood. His son-in-law Barnabas Atwood and Joseph Snow were the executors." The widow Susanna died April 18, 1788.[2]
