Biography

Samuel Fuller was born 10 Oct 1751 East Haddam, CT.[1][2]

Samuel lived in East Hartland, Ct. He married 1st Mary Gildersleeve 09 Feb 1778 Chatham, Middlesex Co., CT.[3][4]He married 2nd Mary Dimmock. His first wife was admitted to communion with the church there, Dec. 11, 1791. The U.S. Pension records say he married, Feb. 9, 1778, Mary Gildersleeve, of Chatham, Ct. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War, at East Haddam, Ct. ; in May, 1776, and served 9 months under Capt. Eliphalet Holmes and Col. Samuel Selden. In 1849 the widow was 95 years of age.

Samuel died 04 Apr 1826 Hartland, Hartford Co., CT[5][6][7]

Mary Fuller widow Samuel Fuller who served in the Revolutionary War as a private inscribed on the Roll at the rate of 26 Dollar 67 Cents per annum to commence on 4th day of March, 1848 stated on 20 March 1841 that: Married First Congregational Church Chatham, Middlesex Co., CT by the Rev. Strong.

Mary Gildersleeve's sister, Sarah Willcox prepared a statement November 1840, testifying to the marriage of her sister & Samuel Fuller. 20 March 1841 Mary Fuller, a resident of Frankfort NY, appeared before John B. Dygert one of the judges of the court of appeals of Common Pleas of Herkimer Co. NY. She was aged 87 years the 25th day of December last past [1840]. Samuel was of East Haddam CT when they married. Mary was of Long Island.

Samuel enlisted in May of 1776 in the regiment commanded by Colonel Samuel Selden of Lyme in Capt. Eliphant Holmes company and in General Huntington's brigade. He served for nine months, closing said service in February 1777. In 1780 Samuel removed from East Haddam to to the Town of Hartland in Hartford Co., CT where he died in 1826. Soon after Mary removed to from Hartland to to the Town of Litchfield, Herkimer Co., NY to live with her daughter Ester Merry and her husband John Merry. She resided with them til April 1834 when she removed with her daughter and son-in-law to to the Town of Frankfort where she has continued to reside until the present.
