Born Moses Gaumer in Lehigh Co. PA. He married Elizabeth Salome Guth in 1825. Together they had 6 children, 4 of which survived to adulthood: Evan Daniel, Anna Maria (Laury),Melinda (Biesel), Lissette, James Alfred, and Lewis. His wife Elizabeth passed in 1850 and he married a widow, Susanna Sarah Laury Frankenfield. Sarah had two living children, Matilda and Frank. Moses and Sarah had 5 children together: Sarah Josephine (Jackson), William Henry, Wallace, Rose Ann (Lutz) and Emma Caroline (Boyle). Sometime after 1864 Moses took his new family with the two Frankenfield children west. They stopped around Green Bay, WI and then moved on to Mercer Co., IL by 1869. Moses died and was buried in 1871. His body was moved to the Eliza Creek Cemetery sometime around 1906 and the current monument was erected. Moses' brother James had preceded him to Mercer County and it appears that the family name was changed to Garmer when James arrived there.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Moses by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Moses:
