Biography

Edith Rae Crabtree formerly Giberson aka Crabb (family name changed to Crabtree 1910)

Edith's birth date is given as 10 Mar 1880 in the Provincial Returns of Births and Late Registration, 1810-1906. (7). However, the 1881 Census does not list her as a member of the household of William Giberson and Martha Grant. (8) ' ' (How do we know the exact date of Edith Giberson if her birth record and the census record do not agree? Harris-837 15:38, 27 December 2013 (EST)) ' '

Clair Zarges, Edith's granddaughter: My family records show that the family name for this family (David and Edith Giberson Crabb) was legally changed to Crabtree, 1910. (6)

Edith's middle name is given as "Ray" on her birth record. It is important to note that this record was filed in 1946 by a friend of the family, long after Edith's birth in 1880, as the birth was not reported within a year of when it took place. The report was part of New Brunswick Provincial Returns of Births and Late Registration, 1810-1906. (7) Elsewhere the middle name is spelled "Rae."
