Elizabeth Goddard, daughter of Josiah and Rachel (Davis) Goddard, was born April 18, 1714 at Watertown, Massachusetts. [1][2]
She married Joshua Learned at Watertown on February 13, 1730/1, He was born there on on November 22, 1712 [1], son of Thomas Learned of Watertown, born at Sherborn, and Mary Mason, was born at Watertown. [3]
Her husband Joshua died before July 11, 1746, when she attested to his estate inventory as estate administrator. [4]
Elizabeth died on May 1, 1774 and is buried in the Old Burying Place at Watertown. Her inscription reads: Here lies Buried ye Body of Mrs. Elizabeth LearnedRelict to Mr. Joshua Learned Decd who Departed this Life May ye 1st 1774 in ye 60th Year of her Age[5]
Her will was written on April 11, 1774 and in it she names: [6]
only son Robert L100 - if he be living, and appears to receive it, or any child or children of his should they appear - otherwise to be divided among the other children
On December 18, 1781, there was a petition to distribute the remaining estate, and indemnify the executor Nathan Coolidge, as it appears son Robert has not 'returned to this country.' Those petitioning were John Bullard on behalf of his wife, an Abijah Bigelow on behalf of the children of Converse Spring. [6]
