Biography

Adam (Gordon) Gordon Jure Uxoris Earl of Sutherland is a member of Clan Gordon.

Adam was born about 1465 probably eldest son of George Gordon earl of Huntly but being illegitimate like his brother William, also described as "filius carnali" neither were lawful heirs. However their father granted them generous gifts which they exchanged in 1490. RMS Vol.ii 1985 see [1]

Adam Gordon of Aboyne, later jure uxoris Earl of Sutherland (b. bef. 14 Oct 1474; d. 17 Mar 1537/8) He m. c. 1500 Elizabeth de Moravia, Countess of Sutherland.

Adam Gordon, Earl of Sutherland, also had an illegitimate daughter, married to John Robson, chieftain of the Clan Gunn, and an illegitimate son, Thomas Gordon, in Mallades (Mill of Dess).
