Jesse Chapman Grant, born 2 Sep 1802 at Plymouth, New York, was the eighth child of Hannah Tracy & Isaac Grant.

He married 25 Dec 1828 at Greene, New York, Frances Forbes Gere [b. 22 Mar 1805 @ Norwich, Massachusetts, daughter of Silsby S. Gere & Jane McCrea; d. 3 Sep 1888 @ Minneapolis, Minnesota]. This family resided at Parry, New York, until 1836 when they moved to Cameron, New York. About 1852 they migrated to Rockford, Illinois, then in 1859 to Monticello, Minnesota, and in 1866 to Minneapolis. There were 8 children of this family:
