My father remembers his great grandfather or stories of him. He says he built a brick house although be had the only one in the area. Everyone built wood houses in the area where he lived at that time. When his children married, he gave them a section of land and built them a brick house on it so that he eventually had a community of brick houses. I'm not certain this is true but it is family lore that he passed on to me.
