Biography

Birth John was born in 1628 he was the 3rd son of Henry Grey, 1st Earl of Stamford, and his wife Anne Cecil. He was brother of Hon. Anchitell Grey and Thomas Grey, Lord Grey of Groby.

Marriage. John married as his first wife, Mary Wollryche on 6th May 1680 at Enville, Staffordshire.[1]She was the daughter and coheir of Sir Francis Wolryche, 2nd Baronet, of Dudmaston Hall, Quatt, Salop, They had 1daughter: Mary, who married William Ward.

He married, as his 2nd wife, Catherine Ward, daughter of Edward, 7th Lord Dudley, on 5th December 1683 at Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcestershire[2] she died 21 Apr. 1691. They had 2 sons and 1 daughter: Henry, who became Earl of Stamford, John, who died young and was buried at Enville 7 Sept 1605 [3] and Frances (sometimes also called Mary), who married Sir John Wrottesley.

and married as his 3rd wife Susan Scrimshaw in 1692 .Susanna, widow of one Ball of Worcester, and of Edwin Skrymsher of Aqualate, Staffs., [4]

Honorable John Grey, died in 1708 (old calemdar) and was buried at St Mary`s Church, Enville, Staffordshire on 19th Febuary 1708(old calendar).[5]

Reserch Note

Both Wikipedia and Hitory of Parliament say he died in Feb 1709. The date of Feb 1708 in the St Mary's Church record are "old calendar", when he new year starts in March

John's date of birth in the data section is incorrect. It should be 1628 as in the bio. The birthplace of Enville is probably incorrect, as well. His branch of the family did not inherit Enville until the 1680s.
