Biography

Elizabeth was the daughter of John Gyse/Guise[1] and Jane Pauncefoot. She was baptised at Elmore, Gloucestershire on 1 August 1576. Her father named her in his 1 December 1577 will.[2][3][4]

On 7 July 1604 Elizabeth married Robert Haviland, son of Matthew Haviland and Mary Kitchin,[1] at Kenn, Somerset.[2][3] Their last names are spelt Guyse and Haveland in a transcript of the parish register marriage entry on Familysearch.[5] They had five children, all named in the 1619 will of their grandfather Matthew Haviland and the 1623 will of their uncle of the same name:[6]

Elizabeth's death date is not known.

Magna Carta Project

This profile was developed for the Magna Carta Project by Michael Cayley on 25 April 2022 and was reviewed the same day by Thiessen-117.
Elizabeth (Guise) Haviland is named in Magna Carta Ancestry in a Richardson-documented trail from Gateway Ancestors, brothers William Torrey and Samuel Torrey, to Magna Carta Surety Baron Saher de Quincy (vol. II, pages 376-380 HAVILAND) that was badged by the Magna Carta Project in May 2022. She also appears in another trail, identified by the Project in 2015, from the Torreys to surety baron John FitzRobert. That trail needs further development against the Project's checklist. See these trails in the Magna Carta Trails section of William Torrey's profile.
See Base Camp for more information about identified Magna Carta trails and their status. See the project's glossary for project-specific terms, such as a "badged trail".

PM could add second source at

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=GBPRS/SOMERSET/MAR/001754737/1 . Last name spelling different - Guyse.

Thanks for the link. The Familysearch entry that is already cited gives a link to the FindMyPast entry, which does not add any further information, so I would not see an advantage in adding FindMyPast as a separate citation. Familysearch is free, whereas FindMyPast is a subscription site, and in these circumstances it is usually preferable to cite the non-subscription site. Please see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_Style_Guide#Commercial_Web_Sites_as_Sources. It is different if the subscription site has extra information.

I have added mention of the spelling Guyse.

I agree. I was pleasently surprised when the site allowed me in because I do not have a subscription. Otherwise, I would have left it off too.

Thanks.
