Notes

The 1812 War Record for Joel Holbert [2] shows that the man fought in a West Tennessee unit. This could have been this person, who lived in South Carolina in his youth, but then relocated to Indiana by 1840, possibly passing through Tennessee. There are several Joel Holberts living in Tennessee as of the 1830 census.
