Research Notes

Research Needed: There are some questions regarding the attached children than need to be researched (and reconciled with husband's profile) See Comments Note that Early New England Families Sketch calls Ann, the wife of George Squrie, Ann ____, and comments that she is likely an extended family member of some kind, but the relationship is not known. https://www.americanancestors.org/databases/early-new-england-families-1641-1700/image?volumeId=61077&pageName=5&rId=74491264

Alice Wheeler bp 15 Jun 1616 'daughter of Thomas of Warley' married John Billington in 1634. Her husband may have remarried Mary Bright in 1637 Cranfield.

Children #8 and #9 belong with a co-existing Thomas Wheeler family, on their bp record Thomas is NOT referred to as Thomas of Wharley/Worley. There is a daughter Sarah bp 4 Nov 1622 Cranfield for this family group. She married Thomas Sherwood. Mentioned in her father's will.

Anna bp 15 Feb 1617/18 (error of 10th Feb above unless there's a source different than the Cranfield parish record) we believe is the woman referenced as Hannah Bennit in her mother's will. Anna is a nickname for 'Hannah' . The woman Ann Squire mentioned in the will is not called out as a daughter, I have not found the relationship connection. The Turney family she was connected to by marriage of her son John Wheeler to a Turney.

'Middlebrook' is not a surname belonging to this family group.

John Wheeler their son bp 27 Feb 1624/5 Cranfield. He reportedly married Judity Turney ( I have not independently verified the marriage)

Thanks ZZ. I've added a maintenance category "Needs Relationship Check" for the children to be re-examined.

Just adding a note here that some of the children's profiles are referencing this publication: https://www.wikitree.com/photo.php/9/91/Wheeler_Name_Study-4.pdf

Update to add: I posted a note on the profile for Ann (Wheeler) Squire (1618-aft.1687), proposing she be detached and her LNAB changed to unknown.

I should clarify my comment on Middlebrook marriage. This woman's daughter Hannah 'Anna' bp 15 Feb 1617/8 Cranfield (different individual from her daughter Ann) was married to Joseph Middlebrook before she died. (3rd marriage for Joseph). I did find the marriage record, my apologies as I can not seem to locate the image in my files today. They had no children together. Sally X is correct it is a mix up with her daughter Hannah 'Anna'. Anna is a nick name for Hannah and her daughter was bp 'Anna' but later in the wills referenced as daughter Hannah and Hannah Bennit.

remove erroneous marriage to Joseph Middlebrook which has no reliable source. Could be error mix-up for Hannah Wheeler, the dau of Ann (Halsey). Hannah (Wheeler) marr 1st to James Bennett, married 2nd to Joseph Middlebrook, Sr. See Middlebrook-29 sources

Halsey-386 and Halsey-23 appear to represent the same person because: Birth and death dates, husbands are the same. The sources suggest only one Ann Halsey married to Wheeler
